Owner of West Automotive Group
Brian Bowersock has many years of experience in the automotive industry, and his involvement in the industry is extensive. With over 20 years of experience and with three West Automotive & Transmission locations in El Cajon, Escondido and Kearny Mesa, Brian is also on the Board of the Auto Care Association’s Car Care Professional Network that strives to provide structure to promote communication among members of the association. He is also a coach for Elite World Wide, helping other shops reach their goals and achieve success and has a degree in automotive technology, as well as being a Certified Master Technician with his Smog License.
1986
Brian Bowersock’s automotive career started in high school where he grew up in Kettering, OH during a vocational automotive program during his junior and senior years of high school. The program gave him a solid foundation in technical skills and customer service, as people from the community could bring their cars in to be worked on.
1989
After graduation, Bowersock went into the Navy for five years working on equipment. During this time, he went to San Diego College to get his degree in automotive technology and ASE Certification.
1993
After the Navy, Brian worked at an independent repair shop for a year until he took over a failing auto repair shop, buying all the equipment with the little savings he had. He then turned the shop around and made it into West Escondido Automotive & Transmission.
1997
After four years, Brian moved the West Escondido shop to the 10,000 square foot location they’re currently in.
2006
Brian’s extensive experience has helped him become an authority in the automotive industry, especially in the San Diego area. The highly recognized Ask the Auto Man television segment runs on San Diego Channel 6, the CW every Friday at 9:00 a.m.

2011
Brian’s popular talk show - Auto Talk Radio - starts to air on
760 KFMB on Saturday mornings from 7 - 8 a.m.

2015
West Automotive Group opened up a 2nd location in El Cajon to better serve San Diego County.
2017
West Automotive Group opened a 3rd location in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego to provide top-level service to more drivers in San Diego County.
2019
26 years after opening the 1st location, West Automotive Group took over the business of a friend in the industry. West Miramar Automotive & Transmission opened in early 2019.
